Hi! My name is Gianna Longo

Major: Journalism and Marine Affairs
Year in School: Sophomore
What has been the coolest academic experience at URI and why?
In my first year, fall semester, I took an Honors Environmental Writing class with Dr. Madison Jones. Every Thursday through October, we would spend class in the North Woods learning how to take jottings and field notes. It greatly improved my creative and technical writing, and it will also hopefully give me the chance to get published! Our final project for the class was creating an entry for the North Woods Field Guide, a collaborative project between the Professional & Public Writing Department and Natural Resource Sciences. The first edition of the field guide will be released digitally soon, and it is likely that my entry on white-tailed deer will be a part of it!
